2 CONT mother's parents, which he called Bobo and Momo, lived in the San

2 CONT Valley on a small farm. He remembers catching crawdads with a piece of
2 CONC liver on
2 CONT a string in a creek by the house.

2 CONT Richard's family moved to Hawaii and he attended Punahou High School,
2 CONC the
2 CONT oldest High School west of the Rockies. He feels very fortunate to
2 CONC have been
2 CONT able to attend this school. He came from L.A. High School with 5,000
2 CONC students to
2 CONT Punahou, with 124 students in his graduating class. The family moved
2 CONC back to the
2 CONT mainland after his graduation. He graduated in June of 1947.

2 CONT Richard attended Menlo Junior College with plans to become a lawyer.
2 CONC He got
2 CONT sidetracked when he started working for the State Mental Hospital in
2 CONC San
2 CONT Bernadino. He got interested in psychology  and thus the change in
2 CONC Major.

2 CONT Richard met June in Dec of 1947. He took June to a Christmas dance and
2 CONC they
2 CONT kept dating until their marriage in June of 1949. They were married
2 CONC after
2 CONT Richard graduated from Menlo Jr. College. It was a small wedding held
2 CONC at June's
2 CONT parents home on Westminster Ave. with her parents, his parents, and a
2 CONC couple of
2 CONT friends. After 2 years of marriage, Richard decided to go back to
2 CONC school and
2 CONT attended San Jose State College. He earned a bachelor's degree and a
2 CONC masters
2 CONT degree, both in psychology with a minor in sociology.

2 CONT After Richard graduated from College he went to work for the County
2 CONC Probation
2 CONT Dept in San Jose as a Deputy Probation Officer. After 15 years he
2 CONC became Chief
2 CONT Probation Officer and after ten years he retired and went to work as a
2 CONC part
2 CONT time instructor at De Anza College until 1987. At that time he became
2 CONC a full
2 CONT time instructor and head of the Administration of Justice Department.
2 CONC He
2 CONT retired from that job in June of 1995. He is enjoying his retirement.

2 CONT Pirtleville, Az. just outside of Douglas, Arizona, and close to home.

2 CONT camping out, and doing the family thing. He is really into holistic

2 CONT grazing and plans to raise cattle when he retires from the Postal

2 CONT United States and Canada, antiqueing and playing golf, and also took

2 CONT trips to countries outside the U.S.A. When they returned home from a

2 CONT would write long letters to us about the trip. She really enjoyed her
2 CONC travels.

2 CONT June passed away suddenly in 1993. Cause of death was an anurism. We

2 CONT shocked by her death as we just never thought of losing June, she was

2 CONT kept the family connected with her long letters to us with all the
2 CONC news of the
2 CONT family. I feel we lost an important link in our family chain with the
2 CONC passing
2 CONT of June. She was one of those very special people we meet once in a
2 CONC lifetime.
