Schleswig-Holstein: The Rise of Nationalism before the 1848 Revolution This is a link to the paper I wrote for my B.A.
CURRENT RESEARCHI am currently working on my HEMMINGHAUS line. Christoph HEMMINGHAUS and Maria AHLMEYER came from the Prussian province of Westfalen, although Christoph identified himself as coming from Hannover. Their home town lies near the old Westfalen/Hannover border. They arrived in New Orleans on the ship George Washington in January 1848, traveled to St. Louis, were married there in 1849. In 1854 Christoph bought 120 acres of land to farm in Franklin County, Missouri. The links are text files, so they run off the screen and you have to move along with it to read it. Sorry about that, but I'll make it HTML format soon. Related names are DEPPERMANN, WALKENHORST, LÜCKER (Luecker), BOHLE, SCHEER. If you have any information,PLEASE!!! contact me.
This will take you to my family tree, direct ancestors only, as generated by Family Origins:
This will take you to my family tree generated with related families for Gene Starks GenDex: Both will give you a listing of the surnames I have researched. Gedcoms are available here for my German line, my French-Canadian line, and my English line in Essex County, Massachusetts. The gedcoms are zipped, so if you don't have "pkunzip" get it--it's very useful and easy to use. | |||||||||||||||||||

The Bothmanns came from the city of Flensburg, now in the province of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. They settled in St. Louis, Missouri. My mother's side is French-Canadian (Thibault) and English (Perkins). The French-Canadian families are all descendents of the original settlers of New France from the mid-17th century. The English side is from Essex County, Massachusetts, mainly in Newburyport and Ipswich.
